In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, the spotlight is firmly on what you want to achieve (the solution) rather than dwelling on the problems. This therapy has a unique advantage – it can be remarkably effective even if you’re not inclined to discuss all your concerns.

This method combines the elements of “talking therapy” with the power of hypnosis. Its roots trace back to Brief therapy, which emerged in the 1960s as a response to the extensive timeframes often associated with traditional psychoanalysis. The clue is in the name, it’s usually a much briefer form of therapy.

With your full commitment, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can deliver results relatively quickly. Typically, sessions are held on a weekly basis. You’ll be encouraged to craft a vision of your desired aims and each week, you’ll take small but purposeful steps towards reaching your goal.

Wondering what to expect during your initial visit?

The first session entails an initial consultation, which typically lasts around 45 minutes. During this conversation, you’ll have the opportunity to explain why you’re seeking help. Background and medical questions will be posed to help form a comprehensive understanding of your situation, your future aspirations, and the resources at your disposal.

In this session, you’ll receive an overview of how our brains function, how anxiety can take control of our lives, and strategies to address it. We’ll explore how our primitive mind often steps in with the intent of protection, the way our survival instincts have adapted to the complexities of modern life.

We’ll also dive into the impact of negative thinking on anxiety, how stress management plays a critical role (or sometimes doesn’t), the importance of quality sleep, and the consequences of not processing daily events through our natural sleep patterns. Additionally, we’ll examine the chemicals our brains trigger and their physiological effects on our bodies.

What’s in store for future sessions?

Consistency is key to Solution Focused work, and all future sessions adhere to a structured pattern. According to the latest insights from neuroscience, repetition is the most effective way to foster new thought patterns.

The first half of each session revolves around traditional talking therapy, allowing you to gauge your progress on your personal success scale.

The trance component of each session spans about 25 to 30 minutes. It’s a secure and relaxed experience, where you’ll hear my guidance while always maintaining control. Most people naturally ease into a state of focused attention, and as each session concludes, they leave with a sense of calm, relaxation, and newfound confidence.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has proven to be effective for a whole host of concerns and challenges including anxiety, low mood, poor self esteem, weight loss, addictions, sports and career performance and is recognised by NICE as a treatment for IBS. It is suitable for children as well as adults, however I prefer not to see anyone under the age of 9.
